Xbox Game Pass Brings Unlimited Access to More Than 100 Games

Similar to how Sony has PS Now, Microsoft today announced the “Xbox Game Pass”. This service will allow you to play over 100 titles from the Xbox One and Xbox 360 instantly, almost like a Spotify for Xbox.

We’ve posted the PR below, which has some interesting bits. For the low cost of $9.99 a month, the Xbox library is yours to play around in.

At Xbox, we put gamers at the center of everything we do and remain committed to giving you the freedom to play the games you want, with the friends you want, on the devices you want. This year is shaping up to be an exciting one for gamers. As we prepare to launch Project Scorpio this holiday, bringing the most powerful console ever made to the Xbox One family of devices, we continue to make platform improvements to connect the growing community of players on Xbox Live and add to a robust and diverse portfolio of games across Xbox One and Windows 10.

Today, we’re continuing our commitment to give you more options to diversify and expand your library of games with Xbox Game Pass, a new gaming subscription service coming later this spring. Xbox Game Pass gives you unlimited access to over 100 Xbox One and backward compatible Xbox 360 games – all for $9.99 per month. Click on to read the full PR…

Twitch to sell games, giving percentage of profits to streamers!

Twitch has been a great way for people to watch others play a game, and helping to decide if you should purchase it. Apparently Twitch and game publishers agreed! Starting “soon”, Twitch will allow opt-in for partnered streamers to sell copies of the game that they’re streaming.

You can find the entire Q&A below the cut, but the part I’m most curious about is this:

Q. If I’m a non partnered streamer, can viewers buy games from my channel page?

A. An offer to buy a game or in game content will appear on all streamer channel pages when a game is being played that is offered for sale by Twitch. Only partnered streamers will be eligible to earn revenue through this program.

So basically, if you’re not partnered with Twitch, prepare to make them money regardless!

Target leaks point to Shadow of Mordor sequel: “Middle Earth: Shadow of War”

Shadow of Mordor was a pretty good game, if not a bit lacking in the second half. With its Nemesis system, everyone had a slightly different story to tell about the game. Luckily, it looks like later this year we’ll see more Middle Earth.

We don’t know much yet, but we’ve got a good look at the boxart, as well as the gold edition’s contents. From the Target website, which no longer lists the title:

Experience an epic open-world brought to life by the award-winning Nemesis System. Forge a new Ring of Power, conquer Fortresses in massive battles and dominate Mordor with your personal Orc army in Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™.

Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.

In Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™, nothing will be forgotten.

Gold Edition includes:
• Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
• The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion

Nemesis Expansions include a new Orc Tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, Fortress and wilderness updates, and a Mythic Gear Set.

Amd Ryzen News

AMD’s press release has left us with some really juicy numbers to look over. AMD has been lacking in the previous years, with only releasing yearly GPU releases but nothing from the CPU side since 2011. So there is a lot of anticipation behind this launch, which by the way will be on march second for all R7-series SKU’s. So here’s what we got:

Release date: March 2nd

Price for Ryzen 1700 – $329

Price for Ryzen 1700X- $399

Price for Ryzen 1800X- $499

Included CPU cooler:

AMD Wraith Spire

In many cases, the Ryzen chips met or exceeded their Intel competitor chip. This includes applications like streaming, gaming, rendering, and encoding. For more information wwatch the video below.

Going back to the Roots with The Magic of the First “Legend of Zelda”

Game Maker’s Toolkit has brought an amazing video about series going back to what made them popular today on YouTube, and we had to share it.

In the description, it’s quoted:
The next Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, is said to be inspired by the very first game in the series. Let’s revisit that seminal game, to see how Nintendo made such an intoxicating adventure.

So what exactly makes Zelda 1 so amazing? And what is Nintendo doing to recapture that magic?

Mass Effect: Andromeda

“Discover the secrets of a vast galaxy, battle hostile alien threats, build your crew and tap into deep progression and customization systems to make them your own. This is the story of humanity’s next chapter, and your choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival and place in the Andromeda Galaxy.”

These are the words of the Mass Effect team. Personally, I am extremely excited to see what this game has in store. The Mass Effect series never seems to disappoint in providing a decently detailed story, along with having good immersion.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy set to launch on June 30th!

Our friends over at Polygon just broke the news that the Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster will be arriving on store shelves later this year. What I had feared to be a fall release actually looks like it will be releasing on June 30th!

Coming from Polygon:

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy collection includes the first three Crash games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

The remastered trilogy features new lighting, animations, cinematics enhanced for 4K and the PS4 Pro, and a fully remastered soundtrack. It also will have full analog stick support, along with new unified save and checkpoint systems.

Vicarious Visions, which is handling the work of updating the classics, also improved the game’s bonus levels and time trials, and recreated the intro cinematic with updated graphics and sound.

The trilogy will cost $39.99.

I personally can’t wait, as I missed the Crash trilogy as a kid. Will you be picking this title up?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild first Nintendo Switch title to receive DLC.

DLC and season passes aren’t a new thing to many gamers, with Nintendo finally embracing the system in the Wii U’s life.It isn’t a surprise that the Switch will see DLC and “Season Passes” or as Nintendo is calling them, a “Expansion Pass”. The first of these has been confirmed to be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can hear all about it from Mr. Aonuma in the video below.

Starting when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches on March 3, players will be able to purchase an Expansion Pass for $19.99, granting access to two new sets of downloadable content for the game when they become available later this year.

E3 now open to public!

Our beloved gaming convention is no longer invite only. Today the Entertainment Software Association, announced that a fans can now buy their way into the convention. Starting February 13th tickets can be bought for $250, for anyone who can get to it fast enough, pre-sales are available for $150, but availability is low.

This is an interesting move on E3’s part due to their previous exclusivity. Now the only question is why bother opening to the public, surely the press passes being at almost a thousand dollars is enough to support the event. Maybe E3 is trying to have more transparency between the viewers and the events or maybe they are just succumbing to the peer pressure of other events to be open.

If your interested, you can submit an application for an event pass here

Namco founder dead at 91

Masaya Nakamura was found dead on Jan 22 at the great age of 91. For anyone not familiar with this man, let me give you a little insight. Masaya founded Nakamura Manufacturing during the economic rise in japan after WWII. He started off by making simple wooden horses for children outside of department stores and had mild success.

He later went onto renaming the company in 1970 to Namco. It was during this time he has his first big success, this success was an arcade game he named Galaxian. which he went and sold to Midway games.During the 1980’s an Namco employee had an idea for a game based on the shape of pizza, this game was Pacman which went on to sell 300k machines.

So lets all take a moment to raise our mountain dew cans to this amazing man who made this impact on the gaming community that we all take advantage of today.
