Code Vein gameplay officially shown, looks amazing.

You might remember our earlier post about Bandai Namco’s teasing of a new title. We’ve finally started to see gameplay now! And I stand by it looking awesome.

From the video’s description:

CODE VEIN is announced for release on major home consoles in 2018.
In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world, as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity.

CODE VEIN is a third-person action RPG that finds players assuming the role of a Revenant. After stumbling into Vein, players are tasked to embark into the world with a companion picked from the various residents of Vein to uncover lost memories and an exit out of this new demented reality. The world of CODE VEIN is dangerous, full of vicious enemies and monstrous bosses to put players’ combat skills to the test.

Revenants also have access to Blood Veils, devices capable of draining the blood of their enemies in order to enhance their own abilities. Exploiting these enhanced abilities known as Gifts, players can change their form to increase their strength, weaken enemies, and utilize new weapon abilities with overpowered attacks. Utilizing the vast array of weaponry along with each character’s Gift, players can adapt and strategize to a variety of battle conditions that suit their play styles.

New Nintendo Uniqlo shirt designs coming soon!

Fresh from Nintendo’s PR email, we were just told about new UNIQLO + Nintendo collection of fan-designed shirts that will be available on May 19. The result of a global design contest, the winners were chosen with the help of Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and include some great designs featuring Mario, Splatoon, Zelda and other Nintendo brands.
There are 25 total designs that will be available. Men’s and Women’s shirts will be $14.90 and Kids’ shirts will be $9.90. While as a Big & Tall guy, these usually don’t come in my size, the designs chosen are honestly really amazing. You can find more information here, and see the designs in the above video!

[RUMOR] Sonic Mania may include animated cutscenes!

The good folks over at Sonic Stadium are reporting that Sonic Mania MAY have animated cutscenes.
To quote them:

Among many speculations, fans have suggested that Sonic Mania may include animations akin to those book-ending Sonic CD. Last week, our eagle-eyed SSMB members spotted this WIP short animation above, posted and then quickly removed from the tumblr of Max Collins. The scene depicts an exchange between Sonic and one of the yet-to-be-seen Hard Boiled Heavies (the character having only been partially revealed in Mirage Saloon’s background). Collins resume includes work for Studio Yotta and Cartoon Network, leading to the postulation that they may have been recruited to develop animations for the game.

They go on to state that it might be a rumor, but they’ve got some substantial evidence that proves it possible. Check out their post about it here, and tell us what you think!

Star Wars Battlefront II coming later this year!

Now that’s out of the way. It seems EA has learned their mistakes with the first Battlefront deciding to introduce a single player story in the sequel. There’s not a ton of information out right now, but what we know is:

Live the untold Star Wars story of Iden, an elite Stormtrooper, in an original single-player story. Battle on land and in space in an expanded multiplayer experience with iconic heroes and villains, thrilling space battles, and a deep progression and customization system. Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17th.

Just give me dogfights and I’m game.

Ashley Johnson & Troy Baker in Studio for The Last of Us Part II.

Looks like development of The Last of Us Part II is coming along nicely. Ashley Johnson, voice of Ellie,  posted this picture today of what looks like facial tracking for voice dub.

I dunno about you guys, but I absolutely can’t wait to see more of The Last of Us, so even the smallest bit of news is amazing.

Nintendo’s HackerOne program extended to Switch, paying hackers.

Are you a hacker looking for vulnerabilities on the Nintendo Switch? Work with Nintendo and you could net some cold hard cash. Our friends over at NintendoEverything described it perfectly,

In December of last year, Nintendo announced that it teamed up with HackerOne in order to find security flaws and vulnerabilities concerning the 3DS. Anyone can submit a report detailing such flaws, and if Nintendo deems it significant enough, they will pay the person who submitted the report a bounty ranging from $100 to $20,000, depending on various factors.

Last month, Nintendo extended this deal to include Switch security flaws, specifically the following:

  • System vulnerabilities regarding Nintendo Switch
    • Privilege escalation from userland
    • Kernel takeover
    • ARM® TrustZone® takeover
  • Vulnerabilities regarding Nintendo-published applications for Nintendo Switch
    • Userland takeover

It seems like the program is working, since today Nintendo has rewarded three people with a bounty (the sum was not disclosed).

Seems Nintendo is serious about fighting piracy on the Switch, which only means good things.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild receives patch that reportedly removes many framerate drops.

While the official patch notes are sparse, Nintendo has pushed a patch to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild today that many users are reporting has increased framerate in troubled places. The official patch notes are below, but after a bit of testing, it seems that issues are a bit better, if not completely fixed in various areas. This is following another patch earlier in the month that did similarly.
