Back to the court, ‘NBA Playgrounds’ Launching May 9!

I grew up with NBA Jam and other classic less serious sports titles. I long for the days of games where realism isn’t the focus. So when I saw the trailer for NBA Playgrounds, below, I instantly wanted to play it. Luckily, it doesn’t look like I’ll have to wait too much longer!

MAPLEWOOD, N.J. May 3, 2017 – Independent developer Saber Interactive has confirmed that NBA Playgrounds will be available on May 9 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch™ and Windows PC (Steam) as a digital-only release for $19.99. Yes, next week!

Classic NBA arcade action is back! Take your “A” game to the playground and beat the best in high-flying 2-on-2 basketball action. Play as NBA superstars and legends from the past, including Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Steph Curry and Shaquille O’Neal.

Features:

  • Up your Game! Features a progression system to unlock real NBA players. Uncover new moves for each player as you upgrade their experience.
  • Tournaments and Online Play. Play solo, with friends in local and online multiplayer, or against the world in online tournaments.
  • Lottery Pick System. The lottery pick system introduces a new twist to the game by rewarding great play with unique rewards.

Fast RMX, Shovel Knight, and more make the Switch eShop Launch!

Competing with Zelda and 1-2-Switch! are some of Nintendo’s brightest Nindies: Shovel Knight and FAST RMX. In a PR statement today, Nintendo confirmed that both Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove (along with the new Specter of Torment campaign!) and Fast RMX will be launch titles for the Nintendo Switch. They also announced a Nindies showcase that will be releasing on the 28th. Along with this news, they also shared that the Virtual Console service will not be live at launch, with more info incoming. Shovel Knight Gets His Own amiibo! First Indie Game with amiibo Compatibility!

Nintendo Transforms Iconic Franchises to Give Players Unique Gaming Experiences

Some saw Nintendo’s E3 showing as a disappointment, I personally thought it was crazy. With a total of SEVEN newly announced titles, and showing EIGHT titles we had previously known about, there’s tons of games to look forward to if you’re a Nintendo fan.

LOS ANGELES, June 16, 2015 – This year Mario reaches an impressive milestone in video gaming: 30 years as a leading man in Nintendo’s timeless  Super Mario Bros. series. At E3, Nintendo celebrates Mario’s longevity with a new installment in the franchise called  Super Mario Maker, one of many games at the show that transforms familiar characters and their games with unique new looks, styles and game-play features. Nintendo World Championships 2015 Crowns John Goldberg from Queens, New York as Winner!

Returning after a 25-year hiatus, the Nintendo World Championships 2015 concluded tonight in Los Angeles with a new world champion: John “John Numbers” Goldberg of Queens, New York. Goldberg defeated Cosmo Wright in a tense final round playing the upcoming Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U console. The new champion emerged victorious after a multi-round competition in games from Nintendo’s past, present and future, including The Legend of Zelda for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Metroid for the Super NES as well as Splatoon, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Mario Kart 8 for Wii U, in front of a live crowd of thousands and even more fans watching around the world online.

The intense competition consisted of 16 Nintendo fans, eight pre-selected by Nintendo and eight advancing from qualifying rounds held across the nation on May 30. After winning the final round, Goldberg was presented his trophy by Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong series, among others.
